About Van Mac-Henry

Van Mac-Henry is a Maryland-born fashion designer whose creative foundation was shaped by her African mother, who taught her the power of personal style and authentic self-expression. From an early age, Van learned that fashion is more than clothing—it is a reflection of identity, confidence, and culture.

Van began her artistic journey at Howard Community College, where she studied Fine Arts and developed strong fundamentals in oil painting, wheel throwing, and drawing. She went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design from Moore College of Art and Design. She also competed as a finalist in the Joes Blackbook Competition. Her senior collection, Revolt for Fall 2018, received the prestigious Best in Design and Craftsmanship award, highlighting her meticulous approach to construction and her ability to translate storytelling into wearable art.

She is the creative force behind her clothing brand Van Man, known for its blend of minimalism, bold structure, and cultural influence. This brand celebrates her West African heritage, offering designs that move fluidly between minimalist silhouettes and expressive, maximalist concepts.

Today, Van continues to refine and elevate her craft. She is deeply engaged in patternmaking, custom garment creation, measurement techniques, pattern drafting, and advanced sewing. Through intentional storytelling and hands-on product development, she pushes her creative boundaries while staying true to her roots in craftsmanship, culture, and innovation.

Van’s work is not just fashion—it is a community, a narrative, and an open invitation for others to express who they truly are.
